Toad in the Hole

Description:

Sausages baked in a yorkshire pudding batter

Ingredients:

  • 8 Good sausages
  • For the batter:
  • ¼ cup of bacon dripping
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup sifted plain flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Method:

  1. Combine a well-beaten egg and milk and beat until light.
  2. Gradually beat in sifted flour and salt
  3. Beat again until batter is a smooth consistency.
  4. Stand 30 minutes.
  5. Fry the sausages until golden brown.
  6. Put about 2 tablespoons bacon dripping into a baking tin.
  7. Heat in oven to melt the fat and warm the tin.
  8. Pour the batter mix into hot pan and lay your sausages in the batter.
  9. Bake at 450º F for 10 to 15 mins, until golden brown and the batter has risen.
